The Adventure Hairdo, with Lots of Tears

We got a little antsy waiting for the Airstream to come out of the shop. The trailer was stuck for about a week while we waited on some special order parts.

I decided it was time to shave my head, like I always do before big adventures because shorter hair is much easier to manage and clean.

Katie had discouraged me from shaving my head on the first leg of the journey, but even she got antsy while we waited and wanted to be a part of the ritual.

The haircut went as expected until Jane and Wilson saw me.

Jane melted down, tearfully sobbing in her Grandma’s arms. She did not want me to cut my hair, and she does not like the new look. She can barely look at me.

Wilson followed her with whimpering and tears.

Even Katie had teary eyes at the sight of the aftermath.

After I assured Wilson and Jane that I was the same dad but without hair, Jane seemed to come around. She was willing to rub my head before bed, but Wilson refused. He’s very much skeptical about me and the new look.
