One of the hardest parts of this whole voyage is taking a break from my friends. Sure, I can promise to keep in touch and so can they but when you don’t have cell service or internet for days and weeks at a time, IT’S HARD!
I’d love to commit to weekly phone dates and am so grateful for the friends that offer but many times I don’t know where we’ll be on a Wednesday evening at 8pm let alone if I’ll have service. Also, I can’t talk freely in the airstream at 8pm. The kids are asleep 8 feet away from me. Sure, I could go outside but its freaking dark in these parks at night. Most of the time thats awesome! The stars, oh the stars!!! When we were in the everglades it was so dark one night I couldn’t see 4 feet in front of me! But with all the nocturnal animals, bugs and such that are outside it just makes it a little more uncomfortable to be wandering around on the phone in the evening. We’ll see, I might choose gossip over snakes if things get bad enough.
When we found out we needed to be in Raleigh for a week so the Airstream could be fixed, the first thing these girls did was show up at my house, with wine! The first words from their mouths were “Ok, we want to know how its REALLY going.” Quickly followed by “Tell us all the stuff you can’t say on the blog.” We never even made it out from around the kitchen island that night. We all just stood in the kitchen and drank wine, shared stories, and laughed our butts off. I’m so grateful for this group of girls and will miss them so much.
What’s your favorite memory with your tribe, pack, mom squad?
