today was a different start, as I was waking up alone.   And breaking down camp solo so that was def. different.  After making some instant grits with coconut oil and a spoon full of dehydrated eggs.  I was ready to go.  Packed up and headed down the trail. I prefer leaving a little later than most. Usually around 9 or so.  This ensures I will have a nice morning hike fairly alone.  Until I catch the first person :).  It was a really nice day with some surprises for sure.    Coming up the Tennessee side it had a lot of grassy patches that gave some beautiful views.   I got quiet a few shots today.  The wild flowers are blooming and the grass is getting green.   It’s a beautiful but brief moment to witness.   This day was deceiving as far as the guide book is concerned.  It looked like it was more down hill rather than up.   It was a lot of steep up that’s for sure. Mainly on the second half of the day.

I strolled into camp around 4.  And it was a pretty decent one.   I ran across basically the same crew I was with the night before.   With a couple of editions of an eclectic group that played music and were very entertaining.    The weather is calling for a thunderstorm or two tonight so I choose a place in a little dip and guarded by some brush so I should be blocked by any strong wind.  My plan is to take an short day tomorrow and only go 7 miles to the shelter before clingmans dome.  With the plan to hike to the top on sat morn to catch come good early morn views.

My feet didn’t hurt as bad as before so I’m hoping I am getting my trail feet.
