Jane Learns to Ride a Bike

2016-08-15 02.07.29While hanging out in Portland for a couple weeks, we’ve passed a few major milestones. Wilson turned 2, and Jane learned to ride a big girl bike.

When we left on our trip, we brought along a strider bike, also called a balance bike. It’s a small bike without pedals, and the idea is that a child uses this balance bike, instead of a bike with training wheels, to learn how to balance on a two-wheel bike.

Jane got the hang of the balance bike in Glacier National Park in July. We told her if she kept practicing, we’d get her a big girl bike when we arrived in Portland.

Well, we arrived in Portland, and we made good on our promise and her practice.

After half an hour of frustration to figure out pedaling, braking, and getting the bike started, Jane figured out how to ride the big girl bike.

I am proud of her and to have been a part of the day she learned to ride a bike.

Here a video of her in the driveway of our rental house in Portland, circling a little obstacle course we made.

This is pretty much all we’ve done today. We can’t seem to get Jane off her bike. ??
