Though Mammoth Cave National Park is only eight hours from home in Raleigh, NC, I had not visited the park before now.
After a long drive in from St. Louis, Missouri, we camped just outside of the park in Cave City.
Though the park is mostly known for its cave, which is the largest in the world, we enjoyed exploring the park both underground and aboveground.
We went on several hikes, checking out different cave openings. We biked along a path that was once the Mammoth Cave railroad track. And of course, we took a guided cave tour of Big Niagara, a pretty amazing cave feature that stands several stories tall inside the cave.
