While I like to hike up and down mountains with a kid strapped to my back, I also like those hikes where Jane and Wilson can walk most or all of the trail on their own.
Our pace with the kids walking is much slower than when we carry them, but slowing down to enjoy the time and our family while our kids explore, learn, and experiment with nature is what this trip is really all about.
While camping in Lassen Volcanic National Park yesterday, we took an easy stroll yesterday afternoon on the 1.8 mile nature trail encompassing Manzanita Lake, near the base of Lassen Volcano.
The stroll was so easy that it started with ice cream at the little camper store at Manzanita Lake.
Here are some photos from our afternoon at the lake.
