Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, north of Tampa, is a bit unusual.
It has an amusement park flair, complete with the original underwater mermaid show, towering water slides, animal shows, ice cream shops, and an expansive swimming hole and beach with a tiki bar.
We visited Weeki Wachee for two days while we were in the area.
On day one, we went saw the sights, going to the mermaid show, the animal show, and the boat tour on the crystal clear springs.
On day two, we swam in the springs and rode the waterslides.
Here are some of our photos from Weeki Wachee, and below are good things to know if you want to visit the park.

Fees:$13 dollars for adults. $8 for kids ages 6-12. Free for kids 5 and under.
Tips:
Head to the mermaid show 30 minutes before start time. They will fill up, but thirty minutes should put you in line and in a seat early enough to get a seat in the 500 person theater.
The boat tour on the springs is free, though capacity is very limited. Hit the tour early if you want to go, but it’s not an awesome tour so I wouldn’t wait in a long line for it. The trip is basically down and back about a quarter mile on the springs, but you will see some fish and birds, potentially bald eagles.
The swimming area of the springs is great, with a sandy beach and separate baby pool. You could spend all day in the swimming area, swimming, relaxing, and riding the water slides. Arrive early if you want to grab a seat or table with an umbrella.
