Our kids are kids, and they don’t always feel like going on hikes, or adventuring. They’d much rather be in a house, face-timing with friends, or playing Minecraft.
Once we get going, and once they see what we’re doing is worthwhile and fun, they usually get into it. Usually. Sometimes at the end of a hike, they still wish they were at home talking to their friends or playing Minecraft.
However, I firmly believe that the kid who complains the most about doing something is usually the kid who ends up enjoying it the most. I saw it all the time when the kids are grumpy, and I don’t think that saying has been proven wrong by us yet.
