It’s no secret that the kids ask to go home daily. This has hurt our parental adventure sprits a bit, but recently we’ve seen some glimmers of hope.
The kids say things like,
“I really want to travel to Japan. You know where they only have cute things like anime and no hiking.”
“Can we go to Africa on our next adventure? I want to see all the animals there – BUT NOT FOR A YEAR, just like a month.”
“I just had a whole conversation with that person in Spanish. Maybe after I finish learning Spanish, I’ll learn another language but only somewhere that I’m going to visit.”
We’re optimistic that the kids curiosity seeds of travel that have been planted will outweigh the discomforts. The fond memories, of which there are many here in Chile, will over shadow the tearful times and from it all will blossom the desire to see, explore, and learn about other parts of the world in the future.
Jane (your daughter) says
Basically, we want to go pretty much everywhere BUT Chile. Also Japan is all screens and cute little things.
