Saturday morning we drove around the lake to Villarrica for a morning on the highly commercialized, black sand beach along the front of the town and in view of the snow-capped volcano. By the afternoon, the beach would be packed with sunbathers and umbrellas, and so we opted to arrive early, before many of the shops and attractions opened.
When we left, we let the kids pay $4,000 each to play on the inflatables park anchored in the lake for half an hour. They rode out to the inflatables and trampolines on a zodiac, and it made their day at the beach.
