We left the seemingly endless grasslands of the ranch at Baguales for our first hike in Torres Del Paine park. It was a short hike, and a good warm up for several days of hiking in the park. We hiked a few miles on the Sarmiento trail, which provided great views of the Torres Del Paine range / massif, and led to a large collection of conglomerate rock with old cave paintings. We’d seem similar cave are in parts of northern Patagonia and in Argentina, so it was interesting to see similar are in southern Patagonia.
