Jane took to roller skates during Covid. Katie bought skates for her as something to do, and the interest blossomed from there. She loved the skates so much, she slept in them multiple times. She had hours of practice while lived at the beach, roller skating on the flat roads back and forth to her grandma’s house. She’d skate back and forth on the vinyl floors of the house.
Santiago appears to have a strong roller community, especially inline skaters. They’re all over the parks and the roads. We took Jane to a store in Providencia that only sells roller skates and inline skates. She’s converted. She picked out inline skates. She wore them out of the store, weaving through crowded city sidewalks downtown. Jane’s mobile on wheels once again, and twice as fast as on her classic skates.
