We managed to set foot on the Antarctic Continent for a second and final time at Orne Harbor. The weather had blown up again while we were en route, and I thought we might not land. The Harbor was protected from the winds though, and we could load the zodiacs for a landing.
At Orne Harbor a Chinstrap Penguin colony lives on a mountainous ridge. The penguins don’t live down by the water. They hike up the steep slope to high rocks where they make their nest. We hiked up as a family to visit the colony and take in the sites of the bays and glaciers in the area. Wind and snow came and went as we climbed up and down the hill.
