Rapa Nui requires tourists to hire a guide to access the park. At first I thought this would be a drag, though hiring a private guide provided for a richer experience. We had a fantastic guide. She was knowledgeable, well-spoken, and great with children. She led us on a tour of the popular sites on Rapa Nui, taking care to show us the intricate archeological and geological details we would have otherwise missed.
Here are pictures of the morning half our our day, exploring the Moai, artifacts, and village ruins at sites near the town of Hanga Roa and at Ana Kena beach.

Sounds like the guide was a game changer. How fortunate to have such a competent one: you all deserve that stroke of luck.
