I adore the holiday season. Christmas carols in November, fresh cut Christmas trees, and driving to look at Christmas lights bring me such happiness. A fire in the fire place with just the glow from the Christmas lights is my ultimate happy place.
Chile doesn’t do real trees, and I wasn’t going to buy a fake one for just a few weeks. Lucky for us our amazing neighbor, Jamie, sent us this felt tree to decorate, and it is bringing us so much joy. And my only holiday “must have” was my birchwood pine Nest Christmas candle, which I had shipped from the US.
Our beloved GMA sent us a package with some Christmas crafts which we are starting to use. Making decorations while listening to some Christmas carols streaming from Mix 99.5 back home was practically a party.
We did get some solar powered Christmas lights for outside. I’m pretty sure we’re the only home in the neighborhood with Christmas lights up in the trees. I’m totally cool with that. When they come on each night, it’s glorious. We’re crazy gringos and we embrace it!
This Christmas season will be different, but it’s certainly a fair trade for the fun travels we have on the books. Needless to say, next year my Christmas decor is coming out ASAP, and I’m decorating every room.
