The weather had turned sour, yet again derailing our expected itinerary. This is a common occurrence in Antarctica. We were lucky in that our small ship and the ship’s captain had an advantage, we could sail into a seldom visited, protected area called Flandres Bay. This was a special treat, and even the guides were thrilled, as none of them had been into the bay on previous journeys.
This was my chance to kayak with the kayak crew, as Katie and I had to trade turns since someone always had to be with the kids. Katie and the kids took a Zodiac ride deep into the bay. We both had tremendous experiences in this remote part of the world.
