We arrived yesterday afternoon in Puerto Varas.
Upon arriving at our AirBnB at an apartment building, we quickly found ourselves in a situation. Since we have the cargo carrier on the roof of the car, we had to carefully navigate the covered parking deck under the building to find our marked parking space.
We weren’t careful enough, since I struck a drain pipe hanging down from the ceiling. We were fortunate in that the pipe wasn’t ruptured, though we did bend one of the brackets holding the pipe. I scrambled to remove the cargo carrier in the middle of the parking lot, and we made our way to our parking space without further incident.
We visited the Jumbo grocery story, which we found to be refreshingly well-stocked and clean. We’re so pleased to have a good grocery store here, even including some of our favorite “American” options.
On our first full day, we walked a couple hours along the waterfront of the town. We found the street had been closed, allowing for an easy and carefree stroll along the shoreline. We’re all pleased with the town, and I think it’s a notch above Pucon.
