We all know that I’m missing my dishwasher. I still don’t like hand washing dishes. We have been occasionally staying in “full-hook up” sites, which means that we’re connected to running water, electricity and a sewer system. I can let my sink water run more freely while washing dishes. So its not as terrible as it was before.
I’m missing my washer and drier. I used to be able to throw in a load before work in the morning. Switch it to the dryer in between meetings or calls. Then, quickly fold it during lunch. It was so efficient! Whenever the kids would spill milk all over their sheets, get super dirty or sick we could just pop the dirty laundry into the washer. Now, nothing seems to get quite as clean and we have to plan out our laundry strategy.
But the one thing I miss more than anything else is our bathrooms. We had both our master bath and the kid’s bathroom re-done last summer. They’re just the way I want them. I miss getting up in the middle of the night and my feet touching the rug, then the cool of the wood floors, then the cold bathroom tile. That sensation is one that I find myself craving often.
Now, if I need to use the restroom in the middle of the night its like mission impossible. If we have a full hook up, I crawl over Mark creep the 4 steps to the back where the kids sleep and quietly try to get in and out of the bathroom in the back without waking them. If we don’t have a full hook up then I walk the 100 yards or so to the park bathroom and hope to not encounter any wild life.
I love the life we’re living. Each day is an adventure. But its ok to miss some comforts of home too.
