Being a total basic, I love fall. Though I dislike pumpkin spice lattes. Gag! I attribute it to having lived in Florida from ages 0-18 and never getting to experience the change in season. Those Floridians, they’re deprived of basic human joys!
Back at home I would spend time to plan out three areas in the house which I would decorate seasonally. Nothing over the top, just small changes like a banner in the kitchen window, center piece for the dining room and a decorated front door for the season.
I would always start by decorating the kitchen window on my own so that when the kids would come down for breakfast they would see the new window decor and get excited.
Then I would let them help me paint or decorate little pumpkins for the dining room and a fun craft for the front door.
Jane remembers these things, and we were both a little sad when fall arrived and we didn’t have a house to decorate. It has been pretty wet and raining in Kentucky and Ohio, so it was perfect timing to bust out some seasonal crafts to decorate the Airstream.
Here’s what we did.
I surprised the kids with a simple bat banner over the sink and fresh baked pumpkin bread for breakfast.
Jane made this tiny spiderweb for us to hang up.
She also made this drunk owl.
But our favorite is our window monster, Cupcake. She’s a real treat for drivers on the highway!
We plan to carve a pumpkin and paint pumpkins when we get to where we’ll be spending Halloween.

Wait. a. minute. I thought we named him Bob! (sorry to anyone named Bob) Do we rename him every year?
