In the next phase of my career, the phase getting going after our year of South American travels in 2022 / 2023, I’ve decided I want to find a business reason for continued involvement in other cultures and also access to new adventures. As such, I’ve opted to advise a software engineering company with operations in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, giving me an opportunity to interact with a team in Mexico and have access to a world-class saltwater fishing destination.
On my first trip to meet the team in PV, we scheduled a fishing trip in the bay. We first attempted to fish offshore, but a hurricane kept us pinned in the bay. We adjusted our strategy, and we spotted and targeted schools of jacks attacking baitfish on the surface. We hurled large topwater popper plugs and Yo-zuris at them, ripping the lures across the water. Just the casting and retrieving of the big lures wore out my arms, and the jacks truly kicked our tails.
