Camp at Myakka State Park – Sarasota, Florida

We had a tough time getting a reservation to camp at Myakka State Park. We were all but resolved to camp in a private RV park somewhere in Sarasota, but at the last minute a reservation cancelled and we swooped in to get it.

Myakka State Park is awesome from so many perspectives, clean campsites, beautiful forests and swamps, easily explorable on foot and bike, and lots of wildlife.

A main attraction is the canopy walk, which is a tower and bridge built in and above the tree canopy, providing a great view of the expansive park.

Here are some of our photos from our few days in the park, and below are some good things to know if you plan a visit to Myakka State Park.
