The dog was starving and glassy-eyed. Potentially wild, though I suspected him to be an abused hunting dog. If it had bitten me, help would have reached me in days, not minutes or hours. I could not risk a dog bite in the middle of the woods.

Lots of people get on me about this incident. I shunned the dog because I beloved he would bite. No help out there and minimal first aid if he attacked.
