We made our first trip out of the city today. We’ll keep venturing further and further as our year progress, exploring more and more of Chile. For now, we’re content to explore the city and outlying parks. Today, we made a trip out Ruta 5 to a preserve called Laguna de Batuco, a unique lagoon at higher altitude. Home to all sorts of duck, herons and other water birds, it’s an interesting sight given the backdrop of the snow covered Andes.
